Junior Lone Star FC had a perfect weekend after defeating both Greater Binghamton FC Thunder and Hershey FC on Saturday, June 10th and Sunday, June 11th, respectively.
The Stars went into this past weekend matches reeling from two successive losses to Clarkstown SC Eagles and fierce Route 3 rivals West Chester United SC but they bounced back with a 5-0 win away to the Thunder on Saturday and a thrilling 6-5 win at home against the Panthers on Sunday.
GREATER BINGHAMTON FC THUNDER 0 – 5 JUNIOR LONE STAR FC
After a disappointing loss last weekend, the Stars bounced back with a five-star performance in Binghamton, NY in National Premier Soccer League Keystone Conference action on Saturday.
Substitute Joe-Joe Jappah scored a second-half brace after midfielder Vlandy Slueue had put the Stars ahead in the first half. Forwards Anthony Allison and Bill Walleekendeh were also on target.
Midfielder Yaya Fane had a pair of assists while NPSL debutant Edgar Medina also contributed an assist.
Goalkeeper Prince Monyan had his first shut-out of the 2017 NPSL season.
Man of the Match: Joe-Joe Jappah. The midfielder came in after the break and made an immediate impact scoring twice for the Stars to ensure the victory.
JUNIOR LONE STAR FC 6 – 5 HERSHEY FC
Junior Lone Star FC completed a perfect weekend in a thrilling 6-5 win at home against Hershey FC with both forwards Anthony Allison (4) and Bill Walleekendeh (2) on target.
Allison put the Stars ahead as early as the 3rd minute off a lofted pass from Vlandy Slueue.
Allison doubled the Stars’ lead by scoring his second of the day in the 26th minute off a through pass from wing-back Abu Donzo.
Allison scored his hat-trick in the 35th minute off a pass from midfielder Fatoma Turay before scoring his fourth in the 43rd minute via the penalty spot after he was fouled off a through ball from Vlandy Slueue once again. He easily dispatched the penalty to take his goals tally to six goals in just five matches in the 2017 NPSL season.
The Panthers pulled one back on the stroke of half-time from the penalty spot after defender Mohammed Mayah was adjudged to have tackled their striker in the box.
Coach Neewilli Saie made several changes at half-time. Bill Walleekendeh, on for Allison, put his name on the score-sheet in the 48th minute off a pass from defender Abel Watson.
Walleekendeh completed his brace and the Stars’ sixth goal in the 59th minute off a through pass from another substitute Joe-Joe Jappah.
With the Stars pulling their feet off the pedal, the Panthers were able to score four in the last 20 minutes to ensure a nail-biting 6-5 finish.
The Stars will take a break from the NPSL to turn their attention to the USASA Region I Amateur Cup Final on Saturday, June 17th when they will represent Eastern Pennsylvania against the Eastern New York champions Lansdowne Bhoys FC at 7:00pm at the Ukrainian American Sports Center Complex in Horsham, PA.
Man of the Match: Anthony Allison. The forward scored four goals in the match. The first was a header. His second was from his left foot. The third was from his right foot and the fourth was from the penalty spot. Allison was also on target on Saturday away to Greater Binghamton Thunder which gave him five goals in those two weekend matches.
